Truckable Workboats by Marine Builders, Inc.
The WORKHORSE series trailerable workboat provides an affordable solution for waterway construction and transportation needs. The rugged design, often found in much larger vessels, allows these vessels to be used for barge towing, dredge tending and harbor maintenance or a variety of other waterway uses.
At less than 26 feet in length, these vessels can be operated by unlicensed personnel. Simple operation and low maintenance adds to the functionality of these vessels while providing features that allow over-the-road transport. This transportability enables these vessels to be used on lakes, reservoirs, canals and other bodies of water that are not normally accessible by navigable waterways.
The standard vessels incorporate a raised pilothouse that provides a line of sight for the operator to see over a barge carrying cargo or equipment. For transport, the pilothouse hinges forward to reduce the overall height of the vessel, allowing for over-the-road capability. The unique design of this arrangement eliminates the need to re-connect electrical wiring or propulsion control cabling. The re-assembly consists only of raising the pilothouse to its operating position and bolting the pilothouse, ladder and platform together.
The standard WORKHORSE is constructed with many features that are options on other vessels. Standard features include independently steered flanking rudders, Thordon rudder bearings, stainless steel propeller shafts, epoxy coated interior and exterior, deck winches and fittings. The WORKHORSE is supplied fully operational and ready to work.
While the WORKHORSE is constructed and outfitted to perform normal tasks of waterway activities, the WORKHORSE can be fitted with unlimited options and features specific to a user's need. Marine Builders, Inc. offers a list of optional features or would welcome the opportunity to design a vessel to satisfy a client's exact requirements.
